Past Access DYK: 1970 Marshall University Plane Crash

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1970 Marshall University plane crash that took the lives of the 75 member football team, coaching staff, and boosters. Join Pete Collman as DYK looks back at the crash and the rebirth of this proud collegiate football program that rose from the ashes of tragedy to the joy of gridiron triumph. www.pastaccess.com SHOW NOTES: * Including the NTSB Report on the multiple causes that resulted in the crash of Southern Airways Flight 932: Nov. 14, 1970. This DYK video was edited on Oct. 31, 2020, to best reflect the information from the NTSB report. For more details not showcased in this episode, please see: https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/AccidentReports/Reports/AAR7211.pdf * The unprecedented allowance by the NCAA to allow Marshall to start Freshmen in 1971 is not mentioned in this episode but not forgotten. This, of course, led to the youth of the team and in some part to the 1971 nickname "Young Thundering Herd".
